Pesto is Liguria’s best-known sauce. The most important ingredient is basil. The method of making pesto, a herb-rich cheese sauce, probably dates back to the Romans. According to another theory, pesto is a medieval variation of the also originally Roman garum. This makes pesto the first oil-based sauce.
Production
Our basil pesto is made with plenty of delicate, light green basil from Genoa and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP. We useextremely carefulprocessing.
Unique
This product is neither pasteurised nor sterilised and is therefore ‘raw’. To ensure the shelf life in the glass, we use organic apple fibre instead of citric acid or other preservatives. This gives us a 100% natural, rich and tasty end product.
