What makes DI BENNARDO SUPERIORE Olive Oil unique?
- DI BENNARDO SUPERIORE is produced in the province of Siracusa in south east Sicily, at an altitude of 500-700 metres (1,600 - 2,300 feet) above sea level.
Nowhere else in Italy are olive trees cultivated at such an altitude. The big advantage of this is that at this height, the pestilent olive fruit fly (Dacus olea) cannot survive. This means our trees require no pesticide treatment.
- Steep mountainsides and limited path access make working in the groves a very arduous undertaking. That´s why nurturing the trees and harvesting the olives requires such an enormous amount of time and care.
- Our precious olive oil comes from one of the rarest species of olive tree, the „Tonda Iblea“ (100% pure species) and is naturally decanted. From this exclusive tree derives the ultimate flavour of our DI BENNARDO SUPERIORE.
- All the olive trees producing our „liquid gold“ are between 150 and 300 years old. Because of their age, their roots can absorb many more valuable flavours from the mineral soil.
- Such a luxurious product is naturally limited in quantity. That´s why only 999 bottles are produced each year, each bearing a hand-made label and a unique serial number.
- Each bottle is delivered to the customer in a wooden box, hand-crafted in a Swiss sheltered workshop.
- A numbered certificate of origin verifies the quality and uniqueness of the olive oil and also offers the connoisseur ideas on how best to enjoy DI BENNARDO SUPERIORE.
- This exclusive olive oil is not available through specialist retailers. It can only be pre-ordered at DI BENNARDO.
