Di Bennardo – How it all beganIt all started with a journey. Giovanni Di Bennardo was still a little boy when his parents took him for the first time to Sicily, his second home. There he was – standing amidst an austere island landscape, surrounded by happy people, smiling faces and delicious food. For the first time in his life he was able to taste genuine Sicilian olive oil. He did as his relatives did - and dipped a small piece of bread deep into the liquid gold. Its purity opened up to him a whole new world of delicate flavours - on his tongue he felt a pleasantly bitter yet intensive taste, like tomatoes, freshly cut grass and rosemary. Back home once more in Zurich, the young Giovanni longed for Sicily, with its carefree folk and their seductive delicacies. This longing remained into adulthood, when he decided he must offer these delicious tastes to others who also lived far away from Sicily. Giovanni - the son of Italian immigrants - called this unique gourmet product: DI BENNARDO Olive Oil. After decantation Giovanni DI BENNARDO bottled the first batch himself, before travelling north with his precious load. His aim was to offer people’s taste buds a gift and quench their longing for this paradise-like island - through perfection in production, balance and taste.
